If the steps a leaning away from the pad and there arent too many of them you could do a more permanent fix by digging up under the bottom step and its footer, if it has one, and jacking it back in place and propping it up. Then pour your new hole full of quickcrete. Make sure to clean the gap between porch and steps before the lift or the debris will push the steps away from the porch. My grandfather was the world's best at doing the same thing to people chimneys when they tried to lean away from their houses.
Good Luck

For a gap that wide you could use mortar mix and put it in with a trowel.

Mr. Handyman, if you can help me, I'd sure appreciate it. I'll outline and if you'll tell me what I need to go buy, I'll get it tomorrow and do it tomorrow.
My front steps have nice brick steps that come up to meet a platform created out of the bricks. (This is a solid construction, not just sort of piled up there.) Anyway, I noticd that the brick steps have pulled away from the solid platform. I can see a caulk of some sort was used in there in the past, but now it's got perhaps a 3 inhe gap. What to use? What would be the advise on what to purchase to put in there,as I realize getting water in that area and it sitting under there isn't a good thing.
Thanks for your assistance!
