Try going to Walmart and look at different decals or even borders. We did 2 rooms with the decals and did our master bath with a border at the center higth of the wall and it looks great

You can build frames out of 1x2's, get inexpensive fabric in patterns or colors to compliment your furnishings and hang them....you can make them fairly large for a big statement.

Also, you can go with a momchromatic color scheme. Just slipcover your existing furniture and paint pieces of accent furniture (if it won't harm the value). Black with white or off-white can really be dramatic for any room....if you need further help, I do consults for free!

im trying to think of ideas to make my apt more like a home insted of looking at white walls. does anyone have any ideas on pics or anything that i can put up n take down with out damageing the wall?
