Today, Laney ran a 10k at an outdoor meet and won over the second place runner from Dayton by over 40 seconds. She ran a great time of 38:18. (10k = 10,000m = 25 laps). For reference, that time is like her running her high school 5k PR twice back to back without stopping.

Glad to hear she is doing so well, I saw her not long ago running at Rivers Edge I wondered what she was up to. It is really nice when a Wilkes kid does so well.

Looks like that 18:12 has her currently ranked 5th in the Southern Conference this season for the Outdoor 5000m (5k).

I haven't posted in a while, but I saw this and thought I'd pass it along. As some of you might remember Laney Browder, the former WCHS running standout and multi-year MVAC track MVP and Regional champion, had knee surgery immediately after graduating from high school. She was redshirted her freshman year at Western Carolina, but has obviously trained hard and is running some really fast times. Tonight, she ran an 18:12 5k on the track at Auburn University. Been a while since I've seen a wilkes female runner run that fast in college. She's running XC, Indoor, and Outdoor track and has made the All-Academic Southern Conference team each season (she has a 4.0 perfect GPA in Chemistry through 3 years). I think she has also been chosen to work a prestigious Chemistry internship all summer in Singapore. The kid has been busy.
