Just discovered it was a bad mouse. My dumb! Off to Staples in the AM to get a new one

This is a software problem. It does it with the touch pad or the mouse either.

weak batteries (change),dirt dust on or in the light/laser(blow dust out)
or a dirty tracking ball (take apart and clean)

Cursor starts "quivering" when I hover over something in my favorites. It will not let me go down the list of my favorites, anything past what is on the opening screen. When I go to log off, I go to shut down and it automatically goes back to the top of the list. HELP!
