It happens a lot

Unplug the laptop and remove the battery. Reconnect the battery and power on the laptop.
If needed reconnect the AC adapter

Also you can clean the connection point on the laptop and battery before reinstalling.

Best case the connection is bad
worst case the battery is bad

And in very rare occasions the laptop charging system has gone out

When I turned on my laptop today there was a red x on the battery icon and when I highlighted it, it said that there was no battery detected. I have checked the power cord and don't see anything wrong. I unpluged the cord and can use the laptop with the battery power so I don't know what it could be. Has anyone else experienced this?
