also I forgot remove the battery altogether and just use the jack. I battery may be tiring to charge causing the APCI to get stuck in windows

My experience has been if one starts over heating, the whole computer locks up and then in a few moments will just go into sleep mode to protect itself. Just the screen fading out sounds more like a power issue.
For as cheap as laptops have gotten, and how expensive replacement parts often run, repairing it may not be the best option

Sorry to say this those are not good symptoms. there can be several software and hardware failures that can cause this issues
possible bios issues possible ram issues possible video card possible DC jack failure
in widows disable APCI management set it to always on.
the video inverter could be damaged ( it seems unlikely if the screen is not flickering every time the laptop is moved )
Or and this is the most common cause. Cpu overheating The Cpu the fan and the heat sink may need to be cleaned and re greased with thermal paste
one way to test the LCD / inverter is to hook up the laptop base to external monitor or HDTV
good luck

Presario V2000 started acting up on me.
The battery pack is pretty much dead and will not hold a charge, so I have been using a cord.
The screen started going out after about ten minutes or less of use. The hard drive is still working, but I'm losing my screen.
Also, I've noticed the power indicator light will be on for the first bit, then go out.
So I bought a new cord.
Still have the same problem.
Ideas anyone?
