try using the compatibility wizard (right click opens the menu)

After researching further, I found out that the software does not work with Windows 7....always my luck. I think it's weird that I can copy and print but not scan. However, I can live without the scanner as long as it prints!

If it copies, then the scanner works. Do you maybe just not have the software package installed that lets you save the scans to PDF, JPG, whatever?

 I have a F340 Hp Deskjet and it will copy and print, but not scan. I have tried to scan on 3 different laptops. It worked fine a few months ago. My drivers seem to be up-to-date.
