Thanks, Bennett! It's only a couple years old, I got it for Christmas in 2011. Do you know about how much the repair would cost?

It sounds as if you broke a hinge. And the BEZEL cracked. In most cases you can use it as is with out any problems. Sooner or later the other side will become lose.
Repair or replace would depend on its age. For older laptops it seems better to just replace it. Then sell the old laptop on ebay

Hello, I was needing to be pointed into the right direction about something. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and as I went to get on it earlier I heard a snap, apparently on the right side of the screen it seems to have detached itself. This rather hard to explain...it's still attached to the keyboard, but not all the way it seems the hinges have came lose or something. There is nothing wrong with it, it still works perfectly and I'm using it right now. I just don't want to risk tearing it up even more by using it. Should I get it looked at and possibly repaired? Or would it be easier to just buy another?
