If someone purchases a stolen gun, they are buying it to commit a crime. Then they commit the crime wipe the gun off and throw it away. No one gets caught with it.

Little jester has run away from this thread.

It must be abusing the numerous ways it coulda be on the lookout for stolen guns.

I dont know how many break-ins you have worked but I have back traced numerous recovered guns and ended up charging the original thief. People dont like to take the rap if they purchased a hot gun. Even if they knew it was hot they dont want a felony B&E and larceny charge . The majority will roll over on whom ever they bought it from to avoid a possession of stolen goods charge

Will an untraceable gun cost more or less?

The gun shop is a federal firearms dealer which requires him and his suppliers to keep records of the guns so they are not untraceable.

Sure, but they can only be traced to this actual theft.

Once the thieves sell them off (flea markets or online classifieds, for example), the buyer can use them for crimes with no fear of the guns leading back to them.

This is what I'm talking about when I say that they're untraceable.

"There are a number of ways one could be on the lookout for stolen guns"
Please enumerate these ways that we all might be the wiser.

There are a number of ways one could be on the lookout for stolen guns, not just by trying to identify serial numbers.

Aside from a few nitpicking semantics and trolling Anti, this thread has nothing much of substance.

Yes do tell as I am sure LEOs would like to know how to find a stolen gun without identifying it by its serial number.

But what we really have now is at least 34 untraceable guns on the market. These will all be purchased by people that can't legally buy a gun, or specifically want one that can't be traced.

Horse shart Stolen guns can be tracked in the same way as stolen cars. LOL And now in her infinite wisdom she can predict they will all be bought by people who cant legally buy a gun, Post a troll thread you get trolled

Come on 168 how dare you bring facts into the discussion I mean really how are people like anti going to continue to spread fear and misinformation to other uninformed people. I bet she has no idea about the thousands of legal firearms out there that have no serial number

168Amax

If it has a serial number entered into NCIC it can be traced. LOL

168Amax

Posted 11:32 pm, 11/15/2022

If they were in a Gun shop the serial numbers are logged in the shops books, The LEOs will enter then as stolen into NCIC. If one of those serial numbers shows up either by a officer running them in a stop or on a pawn ticket, (Pawn shops turn over copies of their tickets to LEOs). The officer will size the firearm and question the person in possession and keep back tracking till they get answers. As far as keeping a eye out for stolen guns please explain how a stolen one looks any freaking different from one that isnt??? ROFLMO

Talk about ironic, they sell their guns with the idea that the guns will protect your home and they can't even protect their shop with all those guns.

The owner was not present when it happened???? DUH No one robbed him while he was there

As usual, Democrats attack the victims and say nothing negative about the criminal. Pat, I would like to buy a vowel, I will take an I, yes there is one I
