A 17-year-old has died after being shot, according to the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office.

The Yadkin County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday in reference to a shooting at a home on Gospel Way Church Road in Yadkinville.

Deputies said the teen was found with a gunshot wound and EMS pronounced her dead on the scene, according to a news release.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office.
