It appears to be some kind of concrete product, perhaps a cheaper alternative to marble or granite?

The closest thing I can find is the 6th picture down on this link, but the one I watched on Bath Crashers wasn't shiny, more of a matte finish, which I prefer and it was chocolate brown.

If you could Google Image search something like you're talking about and post a link to it I possibly could help. I'm a decent handy man and do all my own housework and DIY projects.
Sounds interesting, but I can't really get what you're saying. I would help if I had more info.

I was watching an episode of Bath Crashers and around the frame built to hold the tub, it looks like they put on the Durock, then a cement looking layer and then a colored smooth layer of some type of finish. Does anyone know what the heck I am talking about or what it is called? The episode is newer and not on DIY Network yet. I really want to do this, but I am unsure what that last thing is they used on it. Any help would be great.
