My Grandmother made a pear butter once, it had coconut in it. Sounds similar.

does it matter what kind of canned pineapple you use? What do you prefer to use River?

chunky???

rings???

tidbits???

I usually make apple butter for part of my holiday gift giving...I think I will add that to my gift bags this year..

8 cups pears pealed and ground

6 cups sugar

1 8oz can pineapple(drained)

1 tsp lemon juice

cook pears and sugar for 30 minutes, add pineapple and cook for

an additional 15 minutes, add lemon juice..

Pour in jars and seal and hot water bath 10 minutes..
