Jj77.....and Wilkes has what?? Chickens, on the fields on the courts and in the chicken houses. Don't talk to much smack because Wilkes co "stinks" but I guess that's the nature of the business. You learn to put up with the smell just like the losing. Good luck next week

Ashe is a bunch of pretenders. Go down their whole list of big sports. Basketball a few years back till now they win a bunch of times in conference, get to playoffs, choke and go home. Football and soccer, same thing. Never seen so many people think Ashe is the greatest thing since wonder bread, when in reality just a bunch of losers. But hey at least they got the cheese plant.

Why don't you Wilkes County people whine just a little bit? Dear god, there are several WINERIES down that way, go get a bottle and shut up.
Complaining about how coaches yell at players? Put dresses on them if you are upset about a coach trying to make a point to a player.
Maybe Hampton can take some notes from the ole Wilkes Central days and skim some of the money off the top of the till from the booster club...

First off dude...you get a clue....what makes you assume that out of the 4 schools in wilkes that im WC supporter....lol i could care less if u beat them by 50....im just on here stating the facts...so if starmount beats them by 50...then thats Starmounts business...whether its a split conference or not...i hope Ashe does well...and makes it farther in the playoffs than the 1st rd....I do think its funny tho that a school that size along with WC doesnt just totally dominate the conference year in and year out...Good luck to Ashe....ithe rest of the year....just make it count when it matters most..and thats the post season...And yep...i have a big clue..been following high school football for a long time and cant tell you the last time i missed going to an NCHSAA championship game at seasons end....

Topflight......You don't have clue. First it isn't Ashe Co. fault that they have more kids than the other schools in the conference. According to highschools.com Ashe County has 942 Students Wilkes Central has 850 West has 668 North has 690 East has 528 Alleghany has 423 Elkin has 371 Starmount has 638 Thats why it's a 1A/2A conference, with two conference winners! So you think those "Smaller schools" shouldn't never compete with the big schools? Does that apply to last year when Starmount(638) whipped your Wilkes Central (850) tails 54-7. Or when litle ole' Elkin(371, the smallest school in the conference) beat you down 41-21. News flash for ya buddy if/when the NCHSAA moves Ashe to 3A then you will be the biggest school in the conference and everyone else will be saying how you have to many kids to be in this conference and how it isn't fair......oh wait you still lose to those schools!!! Since you keep mentioning the playoffs and Ashe not getting out of the first round. Ashe hasn't had a lot of success in the playoffs I'll give you that BUT last year they did beat Maiden 34-27 and you once again got destroyed by Franklin in the first round 51-7. But its ok because Franklin (who has 983 students) is bigger than Central and they should be 3A. hahahahahah!!!
Good luck with Starmount this week, remember they only have 638 kids so you better win because they shouldn't never even compete!!

It is what is is..However i hope WC does well....it was the Ashe cohorts with the 1 school in the county team that i was harping on a bit. But neither of your squads Ashe or WC should ever let teams the size of Elkin, Ew, or Starmount compete with you on the gridiron...realtalk...

Same difference dude...800/900..now compare it with Elkin less than 400...Ew less than 600...Starmount less that 700....Ashe and WC does have a size in school advantage by far over the 3 aforementioned 1a teams...whether you want to admit or not...

Since when did WC have 900 plus kids? That's news to me. They are normally high 700s low 800s

And as far as the Air Raid...i watch 1a Starmount totally dismantle it last year...good luck to Ashe..but as far as being good...get out of the 1st rd of the play offs for a change against schools that are actually your size...that may quantify the Ashe has been good statement..You know the old saying.." There good for around here.."....now thats a true statement....however Ashe you guys along with Wilkes Central should be dominant 900 plus kids....its ok to congratulate your team in Ashe...but make sure that at times you measure against teams that are actually yours schools size...ie; playoff teams...and then see how you measure up...so far....not so good...

As far as Ashe winning an mvac title...dont you mean that they have shared a piece of it. Almost 1000 kids and only 1 highschool in the county. You should win everything in this conference every year..but you dont..so in essence if you do finally win 1 outright and dont let teams with three to four hundred less kids compete with you..then youre somewhat legit. However, if you keep bowing out in the 1st round and you usually get pummeled at that...then you are what you are....which is a highly unproductive big 2a football school. Win and win against schools your size consistently..instead bragging about SHARING the mvac title....good luck goin forward...

After being there last night (sitting on Ashe Counties side of course), I personally got to see how Hampton treated his players. Constantly yelling and screaming at them while only congratulating a few on offense. Hey coach a word to the wise, you aren't coaching college kids who you "own" due to scholarship money, nor are you coaching in the pro's where you have the best of the best athletes. These are high school kids of whom the vast majority will never play again after their senior year is finished. Relax bud, they will make mistakes, they will run the wrong way, they will miss a tackle and Lord forbid they WILL drop a pass every now and then. Keep constantly beating them down and you will have your hands full very very soon!! High school kids will eventually grow tired of this kind of treatment and roll over despite your temper-tantrums. Although, it was kind of fun to watch....hahahah
High school football is supposed to be fun and should be some of the best memories you have as a high schooler and this guy is clearly off track and his attitude and the reaction to him by his players clearly demonstrates a problem brewing in Ashe County. That maybe why your roster is so slim.

They may do it but there will always be the fact that they shouldn't even be in the MVAC. By size of school they should be moved

Everyone thinks Ashe is coming together at the right time, folks Ashe has been good they just haven't played the Deaf and Blind like everyone else in the MVAC has. Head Coach Brian Hampton has done a fantastic job of just of reloading and putting people in the correct situations to be successful. He is reasonable and understands that Ashe is not going to win a State Championship but in order to be successful in the MVAC you have to play a tough non-conference. I can promise you this, Ashe will once again win their 3rd Straight MVAC title this year and also can guarantee as long as Brian Hampton is our Head Coach we will contend for the MVAC championship every year. Good Luck to everyone else this season and Good Luck with stopping the AIR RAID!
