Most explosive offense has to go to Ashe. But East..Central and Starmount are explosive as well. Best D remains to be seen. On paper its East..but we havent yet played central or starmount..Those teams will be extremely hard to stop. Trash talking is good..but im also a real sports person that knows W central and Starmount always have atheletes.

Lol...who has wilkes central played...fact is east has turnovers count them 6 against n.stokes...5 against ashe..the only difference is...you had turnovers and got killed...yet youre still talking..thats weird...i think wc is a good team....but not ever been a powerhouse by no means...east is having a good year...they deserve every accolade that is heaped on them as does any team having success whether their used to it or not. Rewind back to when Ew steamrolled wilkes central in the early 2000s...you werent used to winning...and your program took a decent turn...so yes East isnt acting like theyve been there..because they havent been...but Wilkes Central need not act like theyve been there either...Basketball programs have been great at WC...but East not Central havent been power houses in football...both are enjoyinga successful season..true fact is we wouldve beaten everyone on your schedule so far we havent played Starmount yet but we do have one common opponent and we all know what happened when East played them and we all know what happened when WC played them...good luck to you guys...but really you have 300 more students so are you doing yourself that much justice arguing about beating a 1A team.if u indeed beat them...time will tell so good luck...its a good argument between two good football teams...lol no toning down ...lol....Realtalk.

You are all talking as if Central is a team that East doesnt have a chance against, well thats funny because you look at how Ashe destroyed Central while East came back to beat them. Also nobody is over looking west but i find it interesting that they talk about how there going to beat East when they barely beat a team by 5 that East beat by 55

West JV's went 10-0 last season and will be lucky to finish .500 on the season with those same kids on varsity. East JV will be tough but I agree with "usa", I wouldn't hang my hat on anything at the JV level. East JV may win by 40 but only those keeping records at home will remember that. Enjoy the success this year and hope you can continue or it will be chalked up as a failure. I haven't seen a good team in Rhonda since the late 90's so the Cardinals were due.

Topflight, that all may come to pass. It's obvious East isn't used to winning. I have never seen this many East fans. I don't put a lot of stock in JV. I've seen JV teams dominate and then lose when they get to varsity and vice versa. You should be proud of the Cardinals season but you need to tone down and face reality. East has played nobody. They struggled with North Stokes and should have lost to Ashe. East has a good team but they aren't a powerhouse and nobody fears them. They are beatable. As for Central, the defense is suspect but the offense is more explosive than anyone you've played, just inconsistent. WC is still very young, next season is the year most of the fans are looking forward to but this year has been nice. Coach Turner and the staff have done a remarkable job in just 2 seasons together. Ashe did put a beating on WC, that game kinda snowballed on the Eagles with numerous turnovers in a row on their own side of the field, but credit Ashe for that. I'm happy to see East doing well but their fans don't know how to take it. I guess all the beatdowns you have taken from everyone over the years will do that to you. Good luck tonight.

East and Central should be a good game...but East has Starmount to worry about.Wilkes Central has Elkin to worry about this week. East adjust pretty well to what teams do as the game progresses. I checked the stats from the WC/AShe county game. Kinda looks like they did whatever they wanted to against wilkes central. Its funny you say that EW is suspect to the pass when they put more yards on Central through the air and on the ground. They destroyed wilkes central period. Styles make fights. Seems as if Wilkes Centrals defense isnt really that great. Theyve given up a lot of points. Their competition as far as non conference schedule goes wasnt that strong for a 2A school either. Our JV will also give Wilkes Centrals jv an ugly beatdown when the come to Moravian Falls as well.

Update on Jared Poplin from this morning 10/23 from his mom on facebook:
**Update please say a prayer for Jared Poplin he is going to have a stent put in his kidney because his urine is draining in his stomach later today thanks ****
Now....I didn't get to see the first part of this tackle that injured Jared but I did notice after the whistle was blown that the Ashe player stayed on top of him kinda wrestling around. I told my friends around me that the Ashe player just did something to our player......Sad...I know it's football but no one should do that on purpose.
Go East !!

If central can have success throwing the ball, which is something East has been suspect to this season, that should open the running lanes up for Bynum. Central is very capable of beating East.

I'm a Central fan but I don't see WC beating east next Friday. Too much discipline on East's side. Central will have more athletes, no question, but it won't equal a win unless East has a off night. Too much balance on the East side and a tough defense. Hoping for a good game either way.

East will probably beat Starmount tonight something like 45-14....next week will be worth the price of admission though. I'm predicting a Central win but very close 35-27. West will beat Alleghany tonight 35-17, and then in two weeks we get our shot at the mighty East Wilkes Cardinals who will be coming off of a loss. Don't get caught sleeping on us and looking forward to the playoff's.

East is good. I think they will handle Starmount if they can keep Prescott in check. The game with Central will be telling because East has yet to play with team with a lot of team speed. Should be interesting.

TTFTO, thank you for the concern and prayers for Poplin. It is greatly appreciated. I did see an update from his mother today that he had a very rough night. He is in A LOT of pain! Not sure what the doctor's plans are yet.

Ashe truly knows that the lights were an issue for both teams. Ashe really also knows that they faced a team that wasnt gonna let anything stop their momentum once it was seized. If you really look at the game Ashe fans that truly watched the game...were lucky that there wasnt a 3 td difference or at least 2...We fumbled inside the 10 yd line twice..while steadily driving the ball down the defenses throat..we also muffed a punt inside our own 15 to give Ashe an easy score. Ashe was and is a very good team..but until a team shuts that veer option run down this year then EW will have a great chance at beating most if not all the teams left on their respective schedule and go 2 or 3 rds deep in the playoffs..maybe more with a lil bit of luck...

Love the fact everyone throws the "lights out" excuses out there. Seems as thought one time Ashe had momentum and was moving the ball down our throats and bam, there went the lights, the whole Ashe side was booing like we done it on purpose. That makes perfect sense when it happened to us the other 3 times during key scoring drives. Real good logic.

I know the adjustments that Ashe didnt make. And that is the run stop adjustment. Because they got demolished by it when it counted the most.

Which halftime are you talking about where they made all the adjustments?? The one between the 2nd and 3rd qtr or the the one with 10 min left in the fourth qtr? Or maybe the halftime they had with five minutes left in the fourth?? Just curious?

They weren't out of sync, they were running a defense they worked on all week but it didn't work. Switched back to familiar defense at the half and it worked great just like it has all year.

The defensive backs for EW are a good group that play well together. They are very physical and have above average speed. They where out of sync in the first half but in the second half they shut Ashe down. Good job by there coaches to make good half time adjustments. Fun to watch.
