I work with people from Elkin, they've said for years now that when 2015 rolls around that it will mark the beginning of 3-4 years of very down football. Maybe as few as 1 or 2 wins each season.

They'll be very small this season according to those people, Dillon Wood and Clint Henderson the only lineman with any size.

They have a tough full back but an unproven QB.

Not much team speed either.

It will surprise the natives if they finish as high as 5th.

West is going to have some hogs on the line. Elkin has gone back to its bread and butter offense and I think it will help them slide to 5th in what should be a very down conference.

Still trying to understand how West is going to be so good. They had a good jv team bur Central basically had their jv team playing varsity.

I think East is coming on but I'm not sure if they are ready for 3rd in 2015. We can expect that or better in 2016 and beyond.

Starmount lost a lot, but their athletes will not allow them to slip to 4th.

Elkin in 5th? They will be small except for Wood and Henderson on the line.

Unproven QB. Its the start of a down cycle for the Elks.

North will be last. Alleghany probably still has enough to finish higher than 7th.

Ashe lost what 20 starters? Their bench was not that talented and their jv squad wasn't great by no means.

West
Central
East
Starmount
Elkin
Ashe
Alleghany
North

Interesting.

I don't see how West finishes 2nd in the conference this season. I don't think they will even be the best team in Wilkes County.

1. Starmount- always a contender.
2. Ashe- I think they've found something with the Air Raid.
3. WC- Year 2 with the new system should be better.
4. WW- will Walsh play QB?
5. EW- should be improved.
6. Alleghany- They have some young talent in the school.
7. Elkin- very small Scholls that lost a lot of its pieces.
8. NW- just not much talent in the school.

I love an early football discussion. I would say that West will be good, lots of talent moving up from JV. Central will be their speedy selves as usual with Bynum and Parsons, East should be decent (better than .500), Elkin....sorry but it's gonna be a while, North will probably worse than Elkin. Ashe will be an interesting team this year. They will be back with the passing game again but probably not as good as last year. Starmount triple option is always hard to sop but unsure of the talent returning. Alleghany lost it all as well.

1. Starmount
2. West (Tie)
3.Ashe (Tie)
4.Central (Tie)
5.East
6.Alleghany
7.Elkin
8.North

Haters start the hating....we have 5 months to hash it out!!

I'm aware its early but spring workouts will be beginning soon. Who will be the best team in the county? Who are the players to look out for this year? Will the county teams be stronger or weaker this season as opposed to last?
