That's funny....wilkes central winning the conference. They won't even be the best team in wilkes county. John Dough, you forgot about West. You can't forget about the team that's gonna win the conference. Here's what I see happening this year:

1-West
2-Ashe
2-Starmount
4-Central
5-East
6-Alleghany
7-North

I really think the possibility is there for a three way tie at the top...we'll see. But central won't be in it!!

Sorry. but pretty sure Bowles has moved. :(

If Bowles stays at North Wilkes then they should win a game this year. He was the best JV Aged player I seen last season. Pretty much that whole JV team's life-line. We happened to stop him at the end to win the game but if he comes back they will be improved. A win will be a great improvement after last year for them. He will be the star and teams will have to stop him the next few seasons.

John doe, I thin Central will be improved but who is going to replace williams and that receiver they had last season? Who is dye? Starmount should be the favorite in my opinion

This is how I see the conference shaking out.

1) Wilkes Central - Will have a great OL returning back. Last season Central practically had a JV team playing varsity. Look for Parsons and Dye to be impact players for Wilkes Central this year.

2) Starmount - Yes I know they've lost a tone of seniors from last season. But never count out the Rams or underestimate them. They have a great coaching staff with some great talented athletes. This is a program that has high expectations of their players year and year out.

3) East Wilkes - This seasons East Wilkes team is coach JK's first senior class. They've been plagued with injuries the last few years either early preseason or late in season near the playoffs. Everything returns back, never really lost anything.

4) Ashe County - Size and depth of their roster will play a roll. Last year was said to be one Ashe County better teams they've fielded in recent years. Keep in mind this Ashe County Team won a share of Conference title last year.

5) Allegheny - The Trojans are coming off a trip to the 1 A Western finals for the first time in school history last year. They've lost a lot of seniors to graduation. Will be young with a majority of their roster being juniors or sophomores. Allegheny's best years is still to come they will be expected to complete for a conference championship and more in the near future.

6) Elkin - This Elkin lost a tune of talent off their Varsity team last season. 2015 will be a rebuilding process for the Elks. They will better than some people think. Small up front but has a physical full back returning and a Sophomore running back to keep watch on.

7) North Wilkes - they'll be improved still young with few seniors. Sophomore Rb Tyler Bowls will be a special talent to watch will have to carry the load for the Vikings.

Skye Sullivan is a power runner who is a really difficult runner to stop I know Ashe has lost a lot of vets but their coach has to get the team good again man

Only team I seen in person at a 7 on 7 was West Wilkes. They played at ours in June and went 2-2 in 4 games so they have a lot of work to do to be a passing team. They got destroyed by West Stokes, McMichael, and beat East Surry and Forbush. Had some decent size and looks like they had different helmets but could be wrong. See them being more of a running team this year with the big boys they have on the line.

Starmount came to the one at West Stokes but i couldn't see them. I was hoping they would make the main film but they put North Davidson in their spot.

How are the Eagles looking this off season so far?

Ashe is in trouble this year!! Period!! I was at practice yesterday picking up nephew and the turn out was pitiful!! They only really had enough for one team there. What's the deal with that? I know these practices aren't mandatory but still ......no dedication what so ever. Is it coaching? is he running them off?? or are the kids just lazy?? You would think that after the year they had last year that MORE kids would come out, not fewer!!

They ones that were there had better step it up because you gonna be playing all the time!!

SAD!!!

Here's my few cents:

Ashe will be a ? mark. They lost a ton of people from last year including the QB and several of their WR's. Only person I know coming back is the RB. As for their lineman I have no clue if they are bringing much back size wise. I won't know until I see them early. They will be in the hunt though.

Starmount's Starmount they are always stout. They loose a lot of kids but bring back some good ones. How they do depends on their new faces. They could be middle of the road or even better than last year (in 1999 their team was arguably better than the 98 squad,) IDK if that will be the case but they should be in the hunt for at least the conference.

Wilkes Central should be much improved but how much depends on a lot of things. If they can get some good talent out then they should have the horses to race and hit with anyone. Their line was their weakness when I seen them last year plus loosing Williams and that WR who luckily transferred in for them will hurt them. Their coach needs to step up too because from the rumors I have heard around wasn't good.

West Wilkes will have some big 'ole boys and decent athletes but as athletic as the Starmount and Central? Probably not. Their JV's were pretty good last year so I can see them contending if not this year then defiantly next year.

East Wilkes is another ? mark. Year in and out they have the potential to be really good but they always fall apart early in the year and never get it going. This year they have a lot of pressure on them to do so and for their sakes I hope they do it. Their schedule is easier since they added North Stokes so I can see them winning a few early that will help build their confidence. This year may be early to be high but next year who knows.

Elkin lost all their 4 year stars last year so it will probably be a re-building period for the next little bit. Their JV's the last three years haven't been impressive. The 2013 team was the worst of the three though but they got a while to go. Last year they won 3 games (Surry/Wilkes Central, and Ashe.) As for what they have coming back I only remember their fullback being memorable. See them running the I or something simple for what they have. No spread because they don't have the athletes like they have had. Could see a 2011 esque year ahead.

North Wilkes was bad last year. No other kind way to put it. We were up on them 35-0 at halftime before putting our stringers in. The varsity wasn't nowhere as talented as the 2013 team. Their JV's were decent but that was largely due to their RB. Speaking of which what's his status? Is he still there or is he at Wilkes Central or is he out of the county all together? He was the one piece of potential quality they had last year. As for our series they dropped us for Avery County still don't know why either. I see them maybe winning a game or two this year if that RB isn't there but the 2013 days are long gone.

Alleghany will be young this year and all their stars are gone. They will be down again but I see Sessoms pulling some bunnies out of a hat and surprising people.

Ashe will be fine! They have the best coach in the league, Pair the best coach in the league with the best wide receiver in western North Carolina and I am sure AC will be at the top again.

Guru...I don't know who that would be, the sullivan kid plays baseball. I guess we will find out soon!!

Tryin......I kind of agree about Ashe this year. I was at a track meet a couple of weeks ago and the Bynum kid from Central blew everyone away in the events he ran. He looks like he has been working hard on getting bigger and faster. If he stays healthy he could give the conference problems this year. Ashe did have a couple kids coming in just behind him and one of them was almost as big as Bynum. Probably was the Sullivan kid who was their tailback from last year.

Ashe will be down big time this year!! The basically lost everything they had (25 Seniors are hard to replace). The lost the best QB in the league with no replacement on hand. The offense is a good scheme but without the athletes to make it work Hampton will have his work cut out for him. The JV was weak last year only winning 2 or 3 games all year so very little help from that program. I don't even see them getting to .500 this year.

Overall the conference is down and will be for several years!!

If they get rid of the defensive coordinator that was insistent on running the 3-4 that will be an improvement. I never understood why they continued to run that scheme.

Most of WC coaching staff leaving already. WC administration made a huge mistake when hiring the current coach. Shows way to much favoritism to some kids over others. They have set the program up for failure. Kids today need leadership more than ever, they do not have any at WC in football anyway.

Central will not finish 1st. They had some young guys but lost their stud in Williams. This is s team that won 4 games last season. I think they will be better but not 1st.

More of the same this year from what I hear but I rarely make the games.

I hear there are some good players coming in a year or two, mostly the rising sophmores and freshamen.

Mine have been graduated, mostly what I hear about HS football is here say to be honest.

Judging from your username, you appear to be a Central fan. How are they looking? 2hat are the expectations in Moravian Falls?
