Unc already had 2 undefeated seasons ending in 1924 helms national championship, 1957 ncaa national championship. 7 Final fours to there name. 15 conference tournament titles, 21 regular season titles counting southern & acc. Dook had 10 conference tournament titles, 10 regular season titles 4 final fours. Dook basketball program also started 5-6 years before unc had a team So unc gave them a head start
