Yea ok, give you site . Tells he got cash and gifts which is ncaa violation= fact. He admitted it . Plus its cbs news sports site can't debunk. Dook knew, if they did or not still violation = cheating as you say for unc . So dook is cheaters= fact by magette s testimonie

DevilNation

I see nothing in regards to anything saying duke knew about it lol....again lies and falsifying info...back to the facts, unc 2 decades and 1400 illegal athletes, facing 5 lvl 1 major violations.

Like correy magette said in interview that k -rat and dook knew about his being paid still played him. Like k-rat breaking ncaa rule about not talking to recruits till after aau tourney, said he forgot lol. Changed rule the next season without any punishment= fact. But you talk about unc controlling the government and ncaa , but k rat and dook break rules never hear about it again, then sometimes they change rules to please k- rat

Yea I know your not smart at all. But talking cheating k-rat wrote the book on it. Unlimited jewelry line for players, cars & jobs & houses to parents as signing bonuses for recruits to commit to dook. Hear some dook and state fans claim unc cheated to win,lol that's funny knowing unc been a elite program for a 100 years or over. Unlike dook who hadn't did much of nothing before k. K-rat comes in unheard of, has 3 loseing seasons in row getting ready to lose job . Yet it magically pulls in top recruiting class 2-3 years in a row. But nothing fishy about that lol. Guess we know when jewelry line, and parents jobs and houses came in to play. Plus as Jay bias said--- he took easy classes at dook--- tension control lol

Lol again, I know you're not very bright. Butttttt being private only protects you from public disclosure, they still have the same legal and ncaa rules as everyone else...syracuse is private, did it protect them..

Nobody new dean was a hof cheater, perhaps the most architectural cheater if all time.

Funny k-rat has said when he started the dook program he wanted it to mirror the unc program Dean Smith had in place. You can say yea or nea believe it or not , but I seen it on interview of him saying it. Could have set up system like k- rat has, give parents of recruits cars and jobs at places run by dook boosters. Plus the unlimited jewelry line at kay s jeweler . Dook saying is see no evil hear no evil and hide behind. Private school status

Devilnation

I'll say one thing about Dean, he was really great at laying the foundation for the largest cheating scandal in NCAA history 1400, 18+ years.....

Set it up on African Americans and let the Woman be the scapegoats.... so much for debunking the southern good ole boys methods lol...

Unc fans must be sooooo proud.

71-69 record in,acc games some seasons without a tourney bid.better than they do now but hardly taking it to everyone or being the top program in ncaa. Unlike a dook or state fan I didn't mind coach,v, had respect for him. You never hear a state fan or dook fan say that about dean or roy. But I know the 71-69 , 2 games above .500 ,was unc fault they were cheating lol. If not for unc runing the ncaa / and reffs they would be 140-0 in that era with 10 acc &NCAA titles in a row right?Lol

Plus by state fans thinking unc caused state s sports programs to go south. After all coach v was only 71-69 in acc games @ state. I mean state was the program everyone wanted to be. 10 years 2 games above .500 was taking it to everyone. 1 ncaa & 1 acc tourney title was better than even ucla run of 7 or some in,a row.Lol anyway we're looking strong for basketball season, but first is football season I'm looking forward to

1 NCAA, 2 ACC, 1 sweet 16, 2 elite 8
Funny you mention UCLA, as they tried to hire Coach V.

Yea with dook being #6 in poll, and moo u aka- state no even ranked or on radar. Good to see you post beachgoer---- I figured you would be on that pretenders pride site talking about how to blame unc for world war 1 &2 then blameing every country for covering for them. Untill all the state fans started telling about unc, had no idea they controlled the whole usa and made all the rules for the usa. After all. The whole government in every state are risking jobs and everything else to protect Unc, them winning titles and games are the most important thing in there life's other than state and dook fans life's. I mean by dook and state fans thinking everyone should talk about unc scandal 24-7, never anything else.

Lol not everyone is obsessed about scandal as dook and state fans are. Espn has covered it. Plus espn is pretty much pro dook channel anyways. If k-rat cuts one they report on it and put it on front page as it smelling like roses. Plus maybe they can report more,on,dook paying players also. Like jewelry. Back to covering scandal no network will cover something for so long. People just don't care. Say a ucla or Arizona basketball fans heard about it, they might say something or listen here and there but could careless about it after news breaks. Plus Unc didn't cheat on court they earned those titles and wins. Also the basketball team was only in noa one time if that, hearing they won't be touched or very lightly just what I've heard can't say yea or nea if true or not. Unc is doing like everyone else in big programs , if I ever get as whiney as some fanbases are about teams winning to much or,cheating to win,as soon quit watching. Unc #2 in early espn poll

In terms that uncg might understand..

Skipper the head of espn is a Carolina graduate.

ESPN has failed to cover the largest academic scandal in history.

Surely you see the conflict of interest.

If Skip is fired, they will no longer be protected by the Alumni.

Story becomes mainstream, with mainstream media pressure.

I mean they made a 6 month story out of 2 balls were deflated, by a team that outscored the other team 24-0 when said illegal balls was removed.

So far a 2 minute espn segment on e60, all the coverage a massive scandal has covered? Really you don't find that a bit odd?

We have touched on this several times recently Concerns about the future profitability of ESPN as "cord cutting" becomes more prevalent. While Bristol "suits" whistle past the graveyard"; the Big Suits at Disney (which owns ESPN) are very concerned and not quite sure what to do. Seems the solution is more complex than "lets fire Colin Cowherd and Bill Simmons"..

I confess to not really understanding stock markets "stuff" but perhaps you do.

DISNEY'S STOCK TANKING IS THE MOST OMINOUS SIGN YET FOR ESPN'S FUTURE

Posted by Matt Yoder on Aug 6, 2015 09:44

Some have recently argued that the consternation over ESPN's future has been overblown, that Bristol is somehow too big to fail. But the anxiety over ESPN's potential for growth hit home with the most important people involved in this discussion on Wednesday: investors.

The worry over ESPN's business future got a lot more real on Wednesday. That's because Disney's Q3 financial report raised significant concerns over company revenues, almost exclusively thanks to pessimism over future profitability at ESPN. Disney fell short of expectations for Q3 and ESPN's need to cut costs in the midst of cord-cutting and rising rights fees was the central reason why. Via CNN:

On a conference call with investors on Tuesday, Iger forcefully expressed confidence in ESPN's future, and he reiterated that view in interviews on Wednesday morning. On CNBC, he said "we are very bullish" about the cable business.

But investors appear spooked about the possible impact from "cord-cutting" (a term for households dropping cable TV altogether) and "cord-shaving" (households choosing smaller bundles of cable).

ESPN continues to make huge amounts of money through its $6-a-month subscriber fee, but Disney said Tuesday that its year-over-year profits won't be quite as high as it had forecast earlier.

The expectation was for high-single-digit operating profit growth from Disney's cable channels (led by ESPN) and now the forecast is for mid-single-digit growth.

Analysts at Jefferies and BMO Capital then downgraded Disney stock.
The numbers don't lie regarding the truths of the cord cutting phenomenon. In four years, ESPN has lost nearly eight million subscribers, almost half of them in the last year alone. CNBC's Jim Cramer even pointed to Iger highlighting "some subscriber loss" in the cable world as the three words that wrecked Disney's stock. Disney has grown exponentially on Wall Street in the last 12 months, but Wednesday was its biggest decrease in years.

And it wasn't just Disney and ESPN that took a hit. Disney's doom and gloom over the realities of its cable television business led to a massive dip in media stocks all over Wall Street. Media stocks saw their worst day in four years on Wednesday. Bloomberg even called it a "meltdown"

Walt Disney Co.'s darkened outlook dragged down media stocks from Time Warner Inc. to 21st Century Fox Inc. and CBS Corp.

Disney, which through Tuesday had been the top-performing stock in the Dow Jones Industrial Average this year with a record of stellar sales and profit, surprised investors by posting lower-than-estimated quarterly revenue and cutting its forecast for cable-television profit.

The reduced forecast underscored the number one concern for media investors: the unraveling of the traditional pay-TV package, according to Paul Sweeney, an analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence. Fewer Americans are paying for bundles of hundreds of channels, which has underpinned the TV industry's business model for decades, opting instead for online video services like Netflix Inc. or smaller packages.

Disney's shares slumped as much as 10 percent the most since August 2011 while Fox and CBS Corp., which both report earnings after the close, dropped more than 5 percent. Time Warner and Scripps Networks Interactive Inc., the owner of Food Network and HGTV, also fell even though they beat second-quarter earnings predictions. Overall, the Bloomberg U.S. Media Index had its biggest intraday decline in almost four years.
So what does the sell-off mean for ESPN?

ESPN's future is out of ESPN's hands.

ESPN going over the top is no longer an ESPN/John Skipper decision. It's one that will come from the absolute top from Bob Iger and Disney.

(In other words. John Skipper (UNC'75) kowtowing to EVERY fringe whining mini-mob isn't generating $$$$ for Disney.)

ESPN's opinion on the matter is relevant but almost moot at this point. Every earnings call, every appearance Iger and Skipper make, every updated analyst guidance on Disney stock will focus on this issue and the metrics given what happened on Wednesday.

Iger has already spoken publicly about ESPN's potential over the top future and the changing landscape of cable television. As investors and analysts hammer cord cutting and the negative effects on ESPN's business, it's really the only remedy Disney has in their back pocket to turn around the stock price. Keep in mind that Disney had a pretty good quarter outside of ESPN, but the situation is that dire to investors that ESPN's situation sent the stock tumbling.

The bottom line is this if ESPN's outlook doesn't improve to investors, it could greatly accelerate a total restructuring of the network's business model. And if that happens, the rest of cable television won't be too far behind.

Now that the concerns over ESPN's profits are actually hurting Disney where it matters most, the company is going to seriously consider taking action sooner rather than later.

Lol coming from a moo u fan. State gets 1 -4 star recruit think there going to beat everyone by 30 points. Also like how, they bring up beating unc last season , wining 2 games out 5 years acting like Roy being 26-3 vs state at unc is years ago lol. Espn has unc #2 in top 25 and if you read below says if it comes together unc is ncaa title favorites. Because roster in tact and years under there belt . Hope we can but don't count anything till it's tournament time
