No I don't sell tickets wilkes09. I have put money into the raffles they run and helped out in other ways like the concession stand. That however has nothing to do with what is happening to the money going to sertoma now doesit ? Stop trying to stir up trouble clown.

Eagle....youre sadly mistaking if you think there will be less travel. There will be more travel b/c Sertoma will bring in teams from @ Winston and other places to make up for the lost teams. Our board of education need to make a change ASAP and get out of Sertoma before more money is un-accounted for....or even worse, our kids get hurt because the current Sertoma leader is supplying them with out of date equipment.

There were representatives from Wilkes Central and West Wilkes at the last meeting. There is a meeting on Feb. 2nd at Thompson Hall at Wilkes Community College at 6:00. Anyone interested in football should be there. At the very least you will see where the money has gone over the last few years and why our kids are playing with outdated equipment.

I think Wilkes schools should've at least gone to the meeting to hear what was going on. Better yet why not take the lead and organize the league with the others . Run it out of each school and let the gate money pay for equipment and such. As it is now donations and raffles seem to be paying for equipment so where is the gate and food money going ? Hmmm , pay Sertoma in cash , no checks sounds kind of odd.

None of the Wilkes teams will be leaving. They will be in Sertoma. Either all Wilkes teams leave or they stay and the Super in Wilkes said that they are staying in Sertoma and that was final.

meeting is wed. the 25th at 6pm at phat boyz right beside west yadkin school. this meeting has an agenda that will be followed its not an open discussion. if your school has not committed yet you still need to come and see what we are about. remember we still live in a free country come see what we are doing.

Central Wilkes has not pulled out of Sertoma. The "new" Super in Wilkes holds the cards. All of Wilkes has to be out or be in Sertoma and according to the Super, all of Wilkes is in Sertoma and will remain in Sertoma. So, unless the Super is shown significant reason why Wilkes shouldn't be in Sertoma, although I think there are plenty of reasons why, the Super has to be convinced and then there is the issue of funding the schools for the program. Which personally, I think can be worked out individually with each school and program doing fundraising efforts and applying for grants.

When & where is the meeting? If we don't come in and join then who will we play ? It will not be a lot of fun playing each other 3 times in a season. Since I've been told Wilkes Central was at the last meeting I have to assume they are out of sertoma. This only leaves West, North, Elkin, East. I've also been told by some reliable sources that Ashe will be out very, very soon. So we might as well jump on the wagon and listen. The worst thing that could happen is there league folds up and sertoma is still there. Let me know when and where.

Wilkes did attend the last meeting on Jan.9 Central Middle and Wilkes Central High School were there listening about the new league and other issues with sertoma. Bottom line is that the Super in wilkes holds the cards. He has got to be the one that gives us the green light, until that happens, the hands are tied, and yes we have talked to him about the issues. I agree with funding, it can be done and we woudn't have to ask the Board for any toward funding middle school program. Fundraising and gate money can pay for everything we need. Also, I understand about playing under the lights, I like it too. Maybe some played during daytime at beginning of year while it stays daylight longer anyway and then later under the lights when you get to October. So far, as of today, I have not heard any news about the metting between Collins and the Supers.

Fan that's why yadkin is out. All the schools are separate, each elementary school fund the athletic school and gets no help from the middle schools..THAT'S WHY THEY GOT OUT, WHY FUND THE PROGRAM AND LET SOMEONE ELSE TAKE UP THE GATE AND KEEP THE MONEY. Not to mention theyhad no say in rules, equipment, etc. Maybe you should attend the meetings they have and learn a little about what they are wanting and apparently succeeding at doing. Or go and voice you opposition in person. I believe those guys are sincere in their motives and men enough to stand up for the betterment of the program. Wilkes elkin and the rest were invited to attend the meetings but chose not to go. Sounds like you may have more to loose than someone to hand their **** too!

Yadkin is dropping out because they're tired of getting that *** handed to them plain and simple. Why don't they run middle school teams and get away from sertoma. It's not about the kids in sertoma, its about the money. Middle schools run the team for each on and use the gate money to pay for it. Then what you have left put towards equipment for the teams. If you need more you run raffles and get donations to help out. You don't need businessmen making money off it . If they are so concerned about the kids donate the money and time to do something about it like the parents do. In other words help the communities that make your business a success. Don't just look for a profit in everything you do.

The weight limits do need to be dropped for middle school, it seriously hinders the development of the players and, imo, makes our high school teams less competitive. My son has been relegated to DT/C when in reality he is much too intelligent and talented to be playing DT. As for the times of the games, I would say leave them alone. These middle school kids love being able to "play under the lights". I would also love to see a spring league developed so these kids who LOVE to play football can do so year around!
