They said yadkin county teams have never gotten any gate money from sertoma, but were supposed to start since wilkes has been getting it since they joined the league. does any wilkes teams get that dollar back for the program or does it go to the school system? also was told today that ew has been buying all there own equipment for 4 years, so how is this funding the programs supposed to work? has anybody gotten any equipment recently?

there is NO relation between sertoma and any yadkin co. school. sertoma is a club of businessmen that have NO direst relation to yadkin co. schools. the schools have no say into where the gate money goes or what its used for. I've seen the attendance at the sertoma league games and if the gate money is used for supplying teams with equipment then why are the schools having to buy their own year in and year out. The question remains WHAT ARE THEY DOING WITH THE MONEY!!!!

there are real problems for sure. maybe the school board or commissioners need to look into this also. Not just those two teams are out but all five plus the middle schools are talking like this in yadkin. Who will there be left to play? Will we be going to boone or playing with the yellowjackets? This needs some more thought imo.

My question is why would Yadkinville and East Bend pull out? They were reaping all the benefits of the league while Wilkes County, Alleghany, and Elkin were all getting the shaft. There needs to be some serious investigating of the accounting done at the Yadkinville office. They would not let schools send money to them in the form of a check. They wanted cash only. Does anyone else have a problem with this? Funny how those teams always had new uniforms and helmets every year. Of the gate money, the home team gets $1 of the adult ticket, none of the kids ticket and the rest was sent to Yadkinville. Also if you have seen the teams play, the rules have always been one way for Yadkin County teams and another set for everyone else. This year East Bend had 3 kids carrying the ball who supposedly weighed in at the start of the season at 130 pounds. I find it hard to believe that 3 kids would gain 25 to 30 pounds in 3 weeks. And those are the teams who strictly oppose to weighing in before each game. I think it would be great for each school to get equal number of home games each year if possible, keep all the gate money, pay for officials out of that, and use the rest for better equipment for the kids.

A bad brand of football indeed grrranimal. The yadkin teams pulled out supposedly because of mismanagement of the program. The rules clearly state the club will be responsible for equipment, ems, law enforcement, etc and are going to use the gate proceeds to do this. The individual schools are buying and have been buying the equipment for the programs and in some cases I've been told are paying for ems too. The other costs to the schools are lights, field maintenance and so forth. WHY should the gate go to the club and the schools do everything else. Yadkin was just smart enough to see it and bold enough to stand up and voice their opinions. The really STUPID thing here is that our super. has signed a contract to keep sertoma in wilkes and knows all this-how well does he **** The "new era" will fund the program, enforce the rules (something else we know isn't being done) and keep the gate money at the local level to go back tothe football programs. Sounds like a good deal to me.

most of the teams in sertoma have had some sort of success, so for that to be the reason seems childish. I believe the time has come for the program to be focused on the kids safety and not the pockets of the president

My question about this is are they pulling the plug b/c parents are complaining about not winning or are they leaving b/c the way the league is runn and operated?

Grr, I would bet the people that have kids playing probably give a crap. Instead of yapping about it on here things need to be out in the open so parents know what is going on.

Grrranimal =

I can see that you did not go beyond High School if you finished. (I me an, really. )

You don't have a clue what is happening.

Who gives a crap? I me an, really. It is a local football league in a portion of the country that plays a very, VERY bad brand of football. None of these kids are ever going to play beyond the high school level, so if the coach is Mickey Mouse, some kid's dad, or Sean Payton, it won't matter one bloody bit.

People are, by in large, idiots.

By the way --- Why do you think Yadkin County people would not want to be associated with their Yadkin Sertoma?? Better yet why would Yadkin County Sertoma have to go to other counties to keep their program alive??? COME ON, GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! Use your brains people!!

Yadkin is not waiting on Caldwell or Watauga, they are outright OUT! Who are the East Wilkes Might Mites gonna play? Do you honestly think Elkin City Schools are gonna drive all the way to Watauga or Caldwell, when there are 5 local schools within 20 miles to compete against?

Refer to earlier post.... there is a train on the track coming through, don't wanna be on the tracks to get run over or for that fact being associated with it!

"they" is referring to Yadkin??

Yadkin is waiting for Caldwell and Watauga to join them in a different league?

Sounds interesting, its about time for some changes.

Sertoma is the worst run league imaginable.

Word is Yadkin is out. Wilkes, Ashe, Elkin and Alleghany will stay in. Ashe will also bring in their Jr. Pee Wee's and Pee Wee Teams. They have Watauga and Caldwell Counties also waiting to come in. Just what I've been told. Time will tell...
