agree on the rules and times unc. Its tough to get motivated on sunday after a big night of late football. Why don't middle schools move to dpi rules, its the sensible move. Maybe a little more talking and some standing up/standing together would get a grip on the rules and problems that we faced in the past. But it needs to get settled one way or not, football season will be here shortly! any ideas on who wilkes k6 will be playing yet?

All of the Supers were supposed to meet today w/ Collins. As of right now, wilkes is staying in sertoma per the new super. Whatever happens, would love to see the weight limit dropped for middle school and times for all the games moved up to earlier in the day. Should not still be playing a middle school game at 10 and 11:00 at night. Also, do away with the mercy rule as well. If we want to play high school rules and teach the kids then it need to be high school rules.

There is going to be a meeting on January 9th, 2012 @ 6pm @ Phat Boys restaurant next to West Yadkin Elementary School. This is an open meeting. Everyone is invited. If you are interested, want to get involved, just curious or would like some questions answered, come on down and join us. Come hungry (they have good food there). You are responsible for you own food. This is your opportunity to find out about the new Mountain Valley Youth Athletic Conference. "For the Kids"

from what I now understand, we've been playing with out of date helmets and wore out junk while somebody else is making it BIG off the gate money. Ask around and see how much new equipment has been handed out, or how much is being bought by the local programs. sounds like yadkin and alleghany figured it out, just keep buying there own equipment BUT keep the gate money for there own programs!! sounds like they got enough gusto to take care of the kids and forget the backing! Maybe time for a move??

Looks like people from out of the county are makin trouble, all 4 middle schools dominated the league thus year and Ew peewee won superbowl. Against central. The county is doing very well and Allegheny and yadkins are making trouble, north ,east, west, best 1-a, central was 2nd.2-a. Yadkin and Allegheny are jealous, so make your new league and play. Good luck.

Who gives a crap? I me an, really. It is a local football league in a portion of the country that plays a very, VERY bad brand of football. None of these kids are ever going to play beyond the high school level, so if the coach is Mickey Mouse, some kid's dad, or Sean Payton, it won't matter one bloody bit.
People are, by in large, idiots
Really, Landon Walker is actually projected to be drafted by the NFL this April.

Wilkes County parents need to make some noise if they want a change in THEIR KIDS football program. There ARE other options now.

each team gets a vote on the rules vs one man
money stays at school vs a third party that only wants cash(cant write them a check) our gate money
buy equipment as needed with the gate money vs getting a few odds and ends each year from third party
if problem occurs being able to reach someone and a committee votes on it vs one person no response
we actually will have insurance vs paying a third party for insurance and never getting a policy

i think the new league will be so much better for the schools and coaches than being run by one individual. the best thing about it the kids will have up to date equipment for there safety. the new league will give power back to the individual schools and gets rid of a third party that wants only cash. in all my years with the old league i never was handed an insurance policy when we paid our insurance. thanks to everbody involved in making the new league. my hope is for wilkes county to join in and join together and take what is yours .

I like how people say "play for the Yellowjackets" I say go for it, come and get it! We have consistently handled the competition for years. It always easier to tuck tail and look elsewhere.

bbawller's right hawk daddy . Everybodys got the same, NOTHING!! Except the brown bags going back to the sponsoring organization. Its time for wilkes to stand up, pull together and get out. You can take a horse to water but can't make him drink! Find out the specifics for yourself, look at the facts and ask around, alot of the coaches in wilkes want out but have been bullied into thinking they have to stay where they are.

Hawkdad12--

BIG NEWS FLASH!!!

Yadkin County didn't get anything more than you did! No one has gotten what they shoulda gotten. The difference is that the people here in Yadkin have gotten tired of it and decided to make a move for the kids(including your kids, if you can get your SUPER superintendent to let the coaches come to meetings). Its all been a smokescreen. Yadkin has been told all the other schools getting equipment, same for Wilkes, Ashe, Alleghany, and Elkin city. Truth is, the only one getting anything is the one getting the brown paper bag. Get the parents to call the SUPER superintendent and voice your concerns. The new super, Marty, is gonna be left with a mess. The tri-counties + need to stick together and get this problem solved, again- for the kids!!

I bought a new helmet for my son this year because I was concerned about safety. I hate it had to come to that because the individual programs don't have enough money to get new equipment as it is needed. I think each school should be responsible for the finances of their program and not have to rely on a group who takes care of their own but leaves the rest of the schools outside their county to fend for themselves. It is a shame that a few guys have ruined a great organization for kids. I know our group raised money to buy new helmets last year, but not all the kids got new ones and I wish we could replace some of the helmets every year.

The whining hasn't started yet! Let one kid be seriouly injured wearing some of this outdated, unsafe equipment and the lawsuits will run from the coach that put it on him through the school boards and county. The laws have changed alot this year concerning concussions and helmets, its time to stand up for the kids and all the volunteers that are involved.. Its bad for them to be put in a situation that this could happen to them at the fault of a poorly managed and misfunded league.
