Also, if you're having trouble with compatibility right click on the icon you're trying to run, properties should be at the bottom, click on that. then click on the compatibility tab. check the box that says "run this program in compatibility mode with" then choose a different windows.

i got the sims 3 for christmas and after i installed it and tried to run it it said it wouldnt run because the video card must support a shader model 2 or higher. What is this, and how to upgrade it?
