please dont get a laptop with the intel atom you will really regret it. It may be small and convient but even though it has a 1.6+gz processor they are infact very slow. I currently have two acer one laptops that i fight with all the time. Stick with a Dell or a new HP. dont get any of the toshibas from 2007 and 2008, and stay away from the dv and tx series from hp. I havent had any problems with any of the Dell Laptops I have ever dealt with. You could always get a new motherboard for your old laptop and maybe upgrade the ram.( for around 250)

I am looking to get a new laptop, but don't know much about them. What is a good processor? I am looking to spend aroun $500 or less, but would like one with at least 320gbhd. If you have any suggestions please le me know or any help would be greatfully appreciated!
