Wilkesone, you don't have to be at a wifi hotspot to use the new kindle fire. You only need wifi when you are ready to purchase books/downloads/browse the internet.

You can still read previously downloaded books just fine, completely offline - no wifi needed.

Ereaders are so small.... If it has WiFi on the box then yes

Can you only use the Kindle Fire if you are at a WIFI spot? Like the price--can you easily surf the web with it?
