Yes - booted it up as a stock nook first...makes for a nice e-reader. But that;s not why I bought it.. :)
Installed Cyanagenmod on the emmc, skipped running it off the SD card since it can be easily flashed back to stock form if need be. Runs like a champ! Quicker than both my Incredible and the Droid 2, since its stable when overclocking to 1.1ghz, otherwise it is at the stock 800mhz - which isn't too bad really.
About the nook app - I actually like it better than the stock nook software! Page transitions are a little smoother, and it has a few extra options. You can also install Kindle/google reader, etc if you want.
All considered, it is a heck of a tablet for the price. If you want strictly an e-reader, don't get the color version, get the e-ink model instead.

Flo, any update on this? Im debating rooting a nook, or going with another tablet and installing the nook app.

I have a 20% off coupon for Staples, so I thought I'd go pick up a Color Nook. Has anyone rooted theirs? How 'smooth' does it feel, in comparison to phones based on the same cpu (droid 2, etc)?
I might try it via the class 4 SD card first...supposed faster than the emmc anyway...
