Had a problem with Skype version 5.5.59.124 on a Windows 7 (64 bit). Everytime I would place a call Windows would shut Skype down with the message Skype has stopped working. Reinstalling Skype did not solve the problem and neither did:

Quit Skype Click Start, type run and press Enter. Type %appdata%\skype and click OK. Delete the shared.xml file

The above procedure did seem to work at first but the shutdown problem returned.

What did work (so far anyway) was to follow the above procedure except delete every file in the %appdata%\skype folder and then reboot.
