What does this have to do with border control? Livestock would either go through the ports, which would have been stopped anyway... or they're being smuggled over, which would still be done.

Will Trent opened my eyes to a problem I didn't know existed, though. Think about how much live livestock we import... about 1.2 million head of live cattle from Mexico each year.


A cow can hold up to 40 gallons in its largest stomach, and another 7 gallons in it's abomasum. The cows are going to be slaughtered anyway, so... the cartel could easily shove about 500 pounds of drugs in each cow!

The Trump administration is halting live cattle, horse, and bison imports due to the spread of a flesh-eating pest that is threatening to cross the southern border.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke Rollins announced Sunday the suspension of those imports through the nation's ports of entry along the southern border as the New World Screwworm (NWS) spreads northward through Mexico.
